2. Tony Brown, CB, Alabama

No team values special teams like the New England Patriots. Obviously, they want to find offensive and defensive contributors, but the Patriots have a soft spot for guys who can also contribute on special teams. Many times, the Pats will take prospects in the later rounds who they expect to primarily contribute on special teams. That is exactly what I could see happening with Tony Brown.

Brown was a productive cornerback at Alabama, showing impressive quickness and toughness at the position. He showed great skills against the run at cornerback, but his natural coverage ability was lacking. Brown may be able to contribute a bit as a slot cornerback at the next level, but his primary value will be on special teams.

Brown’s ability on kick and punt coverage is incredibly impressive. He is an extremely tough and physical player who is not afraid to mix it up. He also has high-level speed and quickness that allows him to fly down field and consistently make plays in kick coverage.

I cannot imagine that the New England Patriots would look at Brown as much of a defensive contributor, but he has enough skills would he could take some slot cornerback snaps in a pinch. That being said, Brown is an absolute special teams demon who could come in and make a big-time contribution right away.
