Back in 2013, two-time Pro Bowl left tackle Jermon Bushrod was offered a big contract by the Chicago Bears. All told, the talented performer seized the opportunity after six seasons with the New Orleans Saints. Now he’s back in the Crescent City with the team that made him a fourth-round pick back in 2007. Along the way was a brief stint with the Miami Dolphins, which is where Bushrod spent the past two seasons blocking for Adam Gase’s team.

The 11-year veteran now rejoins an organization that is pretty solid at the tackle spots. In 2017, the club used the final selection in this first round on University of Wisconsin tackle. Ryan Ramczyk. On the left side, Terron Armstead enters his sixth NFL season but has yet to play all 16 games in any campaign.

What Bushrod does offer is depth at two positions. He could certainly fill in at left tackle if called upon. But you will recall that with the Dolphins, he was the team’s primary right guard for two years. A 16-game starter in 2016, he was lost after 10 contests this past year. It’s a nice 6-4, 315-pound pickup for a Saints’ team that is stressing the run these days.
