This is a make or break draft for New York Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan. He must hit a few home runs.

The mantra of the New York Jets since the end of the 2016 season is build through the draft. Teams need to use free agency, but the Jets want to build their foundation through the draft. They began that process last year with Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye, and now must continue to hit it out of the park in 2018.

However, it’s not just about hitting home runs in the first three rounds, though. They need to find players to fill roles on Day 3 as well. Hitting a home run isn’t necessarily like the Patriots finding Tom Brady in the sixth round. It’s finding perfect players to fit what the Jets need in a round, regardless of what you’d expect from a player from that round.

The thing for the Jets in Rounds 1 and 3 are simple, get the quarterback and get the guy who can get the other team’s quarterback. There will end up being a theme for the Jets in this draft that you will see later, players who can fill multiple roles.

Let’s take a look at who they pick.
