The New York Giants should consider trading Odell Beckham Jr. and the Cleveland Browns should be the team to acquire him. Here’s why.

At the owners meeting in Orlando, FL, New York Giants general manager Dave Gettleman wasn’t able to silence the noise about the G-Men trading wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Of course, the idea of trading arguably the best receiver in the NFL is a hard pill to swallow. After all, he’s been the focal point, the engine that keeps an otherwise putrid offense going.

Nevertheless, here we are, staring at a phenomenal player who got hurt and had a damming video released, completely changing the optics of the type of person he is. Yes, he’s a three-time Pro Bowler who is looking to get paid $20 million annually with guaranteed money that would exceed $60 million. Meanwhile, there’s the injury and his still looming off-field decision to have a boat party just before a playoff game opened up Pandora’s box and allowed the floodgate of doubt to creep in.

Still, he hasn’t done anything that would get him booted out the league. But to some, his behavior is a deterrent and brings the questions: Is worth the money? Can he be trusted? He is threatening to sit out in hopes that the Giants will pay him. During what was supposed to be his contract year, Beckham has done nothing to instill confidence in the organization that drafted him. So, trading him has become a viable option. The question is, what’s the going price for a 25-year old wideout who accumulated 4,122 yards and 35 touchdowns in just three seasons before being injured?

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, it would take two first-round picks to land OBJ. The early reports that surfaced linked Beckham to the Los Angeles Rams, despite the team not having much ammo. However, the Rams have moved on and have traded for New England Patriots wideout Brandin Cooks. Don’t think for a second that because the Rams are out now that the talk has quieted down.

According to Kyle Newport of Bleacher Report, talk of Beckham being traded is real. Newport confirmed that the asking price is still two first rounders, but there aren’t many teams who can afford to part ways with back to back first round picks. The team that comes to mind is the Buffalo Bills, who have two first- and two second-round picks, but no quarterback — unless you believe in AJ McCarron.

There are other teams like the San Francisco 49ers, Indianapolis Colts and maybe even the Green Bay Packers who could trade for the young wideout — but none of these teams can help the Giants get better. There is, however, one NFL team that can trade for Odell by not mortgaging their future and give the Giants fair compensation — the Cleveland Browns.
