2018 NFL Mock Draft: 10 Big trades create mass chaos
By Dan Parzych
Similar to the Seahawks, the Green Bay Packers experienced a weird feeling this past season by watching the playoffs from home when considering they always seem to be a lock to at least earn a Wild Card spot at the start of September. Obviously, the circumstances would have been a lot different if Aaron Rodgers wasn’t sidelined for part of the season after suffering a broken collarbone, but all the Packers can do now is focus on making sure the results are much different in 2018.
With a fully healthy Rodgers, that shouldn’t be an issue for Green Bay, although the defense is going to need to add a few weapons in the draft since the NFC North is full of talented offenses, led by the Minnesota Vikings. If available, Derwin James is a player that could end up being a great fit for the Packers’ defense, and could end up making an immediate impact as a starter if all goes according to plan during his rookie campaign.
The Florida State product may not have as much experience as other players at the position, but there’s a reason why James is expected to be off the board on the first night. Green Bay’s defense could always use another leader, and James could be exactly what they’re looking for if he happens to fall outside the top 10.
