2018 NFL Mock Draft: 10 Big trades create mass chaos
By Dan Parzych
During last April’s draft, the Chicago Bears pulled off one of the biggest surprises of the first round by moving up one spot to land former North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky, which was quite the surprise since the team just spent a ton of money signing Mike Glennon in free agency. As frustrating as this may have seemed at the time since all of that money on Glennon went to complete waste, the Bears knew deep down this was a move they had to make if they truly wanted Trubisky.
Based off his rookie campaign, the potential is certainly there for Trubisky, although it was unfair to criticize him for some of his struggles since Chicago didn’t exactly do the best of jobs providing reliable weapons in the passing game. Thanks to landing one of this year’s top free agents in Allen Robinson along with a pass-catching tight end on the rise in Trey Burton, Trusbisky is going to see a completely different offense during his second season under center.
Of course, a quarterback like Trubisky could always use additional weapons if given the opportunity, as Calvin Ridley seems like a valid option in the first round. Allowing a team like the Seahawks to trade down would seem risky if the Bears truly wanted to land the Alabama wideout, but if Ridley happened to fall to the middle of the round, this could be a steal.
