The Dallas Cowboys received a major wakeup call last season after going from early Super Bowl contenders heading into Week 1 to a team that failed to even earn a Wild Card spot in the NFC. While there were numerous factors behind the Cowboys coming up short, the important factor is this team has enough talent on both sides of the football to get back on track in 2018, especially if Dak Prescott can get his act together on offense.

As a rookie, Prescott showed early signs of becoming the next great quarterback in the NFL, and while that could still very well happen, the youngster took a major step back during his sophomore season. The fact that Prescott failed to toss a single touchdown pass in six games shows how inconsistent he was for Dallas, but at least with Ezekiel Elliott in the backfield along with a duo at wideout in Dez Bryant and Allen Hurns, the Cowboys quarterback should be able to recover.

Then again, if Dallas truly wants to become serious contenders once again, the defense is going to need to step up as well. Luckily for the Cowboys, the draft could help them accomplish their goals of improving on the defensive side of the football, especially if Marcus Davenport is still available in the middle of the round. When seeing Davenport’s pass-rushing abilities, this is a pick Dallas would love to see happen.
