2018 NFL Mock Draft: 10 Big trades create mass chaos
By Dan Parzych
As mentioned before, thanks to the recent trade that sent Cooks to the Rams, the Patriots join the Bills by being fortunate enough to have two picks in the first round of this year’s draft, providing them with plenty of options to fill certain needs. Giving up on Cooks after just one season may seem like a shock, but the one thing to know about New England is this team always seems to know what they’re doing whenever moves like this are made.
With that being said, the one thing that will be interesting to follow is to see how the defense will adjust to Patricia, who took the job with the Lions as head coach, no longer being in the picture. The unit may have gotten off to a rough start at the beginning of last season, but seeing them turn things around the way they did shows just how strong of a defense the Patriots had, although their Super Bowl performance against the Eagles wasn’t anything to brag about.
Unless they decide to go with a quarterback this late in the round, New England should consider a defensive prospect like Maurice Hurst this late in the round. The Michigan star has proven on numerous occasions to be a nightmare for opponents with his quickness, and chances are Hurst will make the same impact as a rookie, making this possibility even more intriguing for the Patriots.
