Wyoming. Josh Allen. 3. player. 30. . Quarterback

Back in March, the New York Jets pulled off a trade with the Indianapolis Colts to move up to the No. 3 pick in the first round, with many making the assumption the team was looking to finally land a quarterback to build the franchise around. Despite Josh McCown and Teddy Bridgewater being on board for the 2018 season, the Jets realize neither of these two players are the long-term answer at quarterback, and they can’t afford to continue on potential prospects like previous years.

In a way, New York deserves credit for making this move when they did when considering the risk of waiting until No. 6 to potentially land the player they wanted when looking at all of the teams that were ahead of them looking to fill a quarterback need as well. For months, Darnold and Josh Rosen have been viewed as the top two quarterback prospects in this year’s draft, but as soon as the Jets made the move to jump up three spots, the speculation immediately became the team had their eyes set on Josh Allen.

Like most players in the draft, the Wyoming product has a few areas in need of improvement such as accuracy, but Allen makes up for it in other areas such as arm strength to make him worthy of first-round consideration. After all of the years focusing on other positions, New York’s patience may finally payoff with someone like Allen.
