2018 NFL Mock Draft: 10 Big trades create mass chaos
By Dan Parzych
To say the Oakland Raiders failed to live up to expectations during the 2017 season would be a huge understatement since this team went from being the squad with the best chance to take down the New England Patriots to finishing with a 6-10 record. As a result, the Raiders would end up moving on from Jack Del Rio and replace him with Jon Gruden with the hope of Derek Carr elevating his game to a whole new level after taking a step back last year.
Of course, Carr and the offense can only do so much on their own without the proper support from the defensive side of the football, which was a major issue for Oakland in 2017. The Raiders entered the offseason looking to upgrade at the linebacker position in order to help boost the defensive side of the football, and when looking at the potential surrounding Virginia Tech’s Tremaine Edmunds, it may not be worth the risk of waiting until No. 10.
Edmunds has proven to be the playmaking kind of linebacker that can make an immediate impact in the NFL, and will easily be gone by the end of the first round. Without question, Edmunds could be the answer Oakland has been looking for at linebacker, and would be worth trading up for to give them a better opportunity of getting back on track during Gruden’s first year.
