4. Danny Johnson, CB, Southern

The Oakland Raiders made a couple of interesting additions to help their cornerback situation this offseason. Both Rashaan Melvin and Leon Hall are talented veteran cornerbacks who will at least bring quality depth to the position. Melvin in particular should be able to come in and be a quality starting option for the Raiders in 2018.

A starting duo of Melvin and Gareon Conley with guys like Hall, Darius Hillary and Dexter McDonald around for depth is not a bad mix of players at the cornerback position. That being said, I would like to see the Raiders find some legitimate long-term cornerback upside in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Danny Johnson is a talented defensive back prospect out of Southern University, an FCS school in Louisiana. He did not play against top-level competition in college but Johnson showed impressive coverage ability and ball skills that should translate to the next level.

In college, Johnson was an absolute turnover machine, seemingly always putting himself in a position to make plays on the ball. Johnson has a knack for attacking the ball in the air, coming away with a lot of impressive interceptions.

On top of that, Johnson has impressive man-to-man coverage skills on the outside. He reads and reacts to the opposing receiver extremely well and can also read what the quarterback is trying to do extremely well.

Johnson only played on the outside in college, but at 5-10, 185 pounds, he may have to move inside to the slot at the next level. It is a complete mystery whether Johnson can make that kind of transition, but his overall skill set is tempting enough to take a chance on as a late-round sleeper.
