It is another new beginning for the only franchise in the NFC without a Super Bowl appearance. Who are the Detroit Lions’ best offseason pickups to date?

It is start-over time once again in the Motor City. After four seasons with head coach Jim Caldwell at the controls, the Detroit Lions were a playoff participant twice. But as has been the case for this franchise for well over two decades, winning in the postseason has been another matter altogether.

Despite a 36-28 regular-season resume with the club, Caldwell was dismissed at the close of 2017. And the fact remains that this is a team that hasn’t won a playoff game since 1991 and has also failed to capture a division title since 1993.

This offseason, Lions’ general manager Bob Quinn would go on to hire a familiar face in former New England Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia. As for the current roster, there are still plenty of the same pieces on this team from recent years — most notably on the offensive side of the ball.

Nevertheless, Quinn and the franchise were quite active during free agency in terms of acquiring experienced talent. On the other hand, the Lions also lost their share of familiar faces. But with a new coaching regime brings changes on both sides of the football.

With the NFL draft rapidly approaching, what five additions did the Lions make this offseason that stood out the most?
