Round 2: D.J. Chark, WR, LSU

D.J. Chark is selected to bolster the once vaunted receiving corps. After Allen Robinson left and Allen Hurns was released, the Jaguars need a large possession receiver. Chark is big and speedy. Chark stands 6-4, weighing 198 pounds. He ran a 4.34-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. His size and speed will stretch the field vertically for the Jaguars.

At LSU, he caught 66 passes for 1,351 yards with six touchdowns. Lance Zierlein of NFL.com gives an overview of Chark:

"Tall and fast, … Chark will be coveted by play-action passing attacks looking to win with chunk plays down the field, …"

Zierlein’s analysis sounds like what the Jaguars want to do offensively. Pound the ball first with Fournette then hit Chark deep down the field. He would be the missing piece to the play action offense.

Also, Chark, Westbrook and Keelan Cole would give Jacksonville three deep ball targets. Imagine the three lining up and clearing out the secondary for the tight end over the middle. Speed changes the way teams defend receivers.

Physically, Chark is similar to Robinson but is speedier. His size will force safeties to help cover him but he will run away from most. Chark’s addition will be another weapon in the arsenal. Where will Jacksonville address in the third round?
