Round 7: Bruce Hector, DT, South Florida

Bruce Hector is a good selection to stockpile defensive linemen. Jacksonville was not nearly as effective stopping the run as they were in pass defense, in 2017. Since injuries are one play away from happening, it makes sense to have plenty of interior defensive linemen.

Hector stands 6-2, weighing 296 pounds. While at South Florida, he made 90 total tackles and had 18 sacks. Walterfootball.com gives their assessment of Hector:

"…  think of him as a sleeper pick who could be a good value. They think that for the NFL, Hector could translate as a quick, penetrating three-technique who will contribute in the pass rush. In …Interior pass-rushers are tough to find, so Hector could become a hot prospect in the weeks to come."

Currently, four Jacksonville defensive linemen, on the roster, are between the ages of 28 and 31 years old. Consequently, three are big name players. Calais Campbell is the elder statesman at 31. Both Marcel Dareus and Malik Jackson are 28 years old. The Jaguars may look to get younger on the defensive interior.

Also, Hector would be good for position depth for the run defense. His price tag is much cheaper if they should decide to move Dareus for salary cap reasons. The defense is an elite unit and this pick helps upgrade the quality of depth.

Lets see who the last pick will be.
