The New York Giants are in a combo mode for the 2018 NFL Draft. They’re in win-now mode while trying to also build toward the future.

Dave Gettleman has to be David Copperfield for the New York Giants in 2018. First, he had to work around a terrible cap situation, and now he has to hit on the draft, and both are easier said than done.

Phase one is complete, and now onto phase two. The draft is key to the rebuild for the Giants. They need to hit a few home runs in this draft to be able to keep things going once Eli Manning decides it’s time to call it a career.

The Giants have four picks in the first three rounds. So, that means they have a huge opportunity sitting in front of them to build the team around Manning to get one more Super Bowl run out of him, while also having the pieces in place for his eventual replacement.

There’s a lot of speculation and rumbling on what the Giants will do with the No. 2 overall pick. Many people think they “have to” take a quarterback, because they’re “not going to be in this spot often.” However, that’s not the case. They can take a developmental quarterback and have him sit behind Manning like the Packers did with Rodgers and Favre.

What do the Giants do? Let’s take a look.
