3. Derrius Guice, RB, LSU

Just one month ago, it didn’t seem possible that the Redskins would select a running back at No. 13 overall. The need is there, sure, but the depth of this running back class made it possible the Redskins could get a running back in the second round or even later. Well, Washington is apparently very interested in LSU running back Derrius Guice.

The team sent several front-office members, including team president Bruce Allen, to LSU’s pro day last week and apparently took the talented running back out to dinner the night before.

This interest in serious, folks. And for good reason. Guice is a special talent.

Washington could take Guice at No. 13 and look to the second round to find help on the defensive line. There are several possibilities, including players such as Taven Bryan, Tim Settle and Nathan Shepherd. Bryan, of course, could find himself in the first round. If the Redskins went this route, who could argue? Sure, running back feels like a luxury pick for a team with so many holes, but Guice could transform this offense. Smith relied heavily on the running game during his time with the Chiefs and Guice could give this team something it hasn’t had in years.

Guice is athletic, patient, possesses good size and incredible balance. He runs angry on every play and that type of attitude could take Washington’s offense to another level.
