Kansas City Chiefs: 7-Round 2018 mock draft in mid-April
Find out how the Kansas City Chiefs can improve their talent pool with this complete seven-round 2018 NFL mock draft.
The Kansas City Chiefs are clearly heading in a different direction going forward. Alex Smith is gone, meaning the Pat Mahomes era is upon us. The Chiefs traded up for Mahomes last year, investing some serious draft capital in the big-armed quarterback. Mahomes is clearly the Chiefs’ franchise quarterback going forward and nothing is more important to the franchise than him being successful.
The Chiefs have already built an exciting offense to help get the most out of Mahomes. The trio of Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce and Kareem Hunt was already impressive, but when the Chiefs added Sammy Watkins in free agency, their offense went to the next level.
With elite big-play receivers like Hill and Watkins on the outside, along with Kelce and Hunt making plays in the middle of the field, Mahomes has all of the weapons needed to be a big-time asset at the quarterback position. As long as Mahomes is for real, the Chiefs offense is going to be elite in 2018 and beyond.
However, they have obvious needs on the defensive side of the ball that must immediately be addressed. Unless the Kansas City Chiefs are just going to try to out score everybody, they need to start working on their defense.
The Chiefs do not have a first-round selection in the 2018 NFL Draft (it was used in the Mahomes trade), but expect them to primarily work on the defense with the draft capital that they do have. Regardless of how they use their picks, the upcoming draft will obviously be important for the current and long-term success of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Who should they add to the mix? Let’s take a look with this complete seven-round 2018 NFL mock draft.
