Kansas City Chiefs: 7-Round 2018 mock draft in mid-April
After snagging Gesicki with their first pick, the Kansas City Chiefs start working on their defensive needs with their first of two picks in the third round. Dee Ford has never become the dominant edge rusher that the Chiefs expected when they took him in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He is back in the mix for the 2018 season, but the Chiefs cannot expect big-time production out of Ford.
Ever since Tamba Hali started to age, the Chiefs have had major issues opposite of Justin Houston at the edge rusher position. Hali is now gone, Ford is disappointing and guys like Tanoh Kpassagnon and Dadi Nicolas aren’t ready for full-time production. The Chiefs would be wise to find an edge rusher who can come in and immediately produce.
Kemoko Turay is an extremely quick and explosive edge rusher who has impressive natural ability on the outside. He is a high motor player who never gives up on the play. Turay has a combination of athleticism and power that will immediately translate to the next level.
The Rutgers product not only has impressive pass rush upside at the next level, he is a strong run defender who sets the edge well and can knife through the line and make plays in the backfield. Simply put, Turay is an extremely talented edge defender who has big-time upside at the next level.
Snagging him in the third round would give the Chiefs a player who come in and fill an immediate position of need, while also providing long-term value.
