Kansas City Chiefs: 7-Round 2018 mock draft in mid-April
After signing Anthony Hitchens in free agency, I wouldn’t call inside linebacker a major position of need for the Kansas City Chiefs. That being said, if the right opportunity presents itself, I could certainly see Kansas City looking to add quality depth to their linebacker situation in the 2018 NFL Draft.
With their first of two fourth-round selections, the Chiefs find that quality linebacker depth by taking BYU’s Fred Warner.
Warner is an extremely fast and athletic linebacker prospect who has a ton of natural upside at the next level. He shows impressive range on the inside, displaying the ability to defend from sideline-to-sideline. Warner has coverage skills that should translate well and can offer strong run support. Simply put, he is a talented linebacker who would certainly help the Chiefs’ defensive mix.
Will Richardson was an extremely talented and productive offensive tackle in college. With quick feet and good athleticism, Richardson could possibly play tackle at the next level. However, Richardson being available in the fourth round of this mock makes him a tempting offensive guard target for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Richardson does not have great length, making him an odd fit on the outside from the get-go. He might be able to work around that, but his impressive quickness and power at the point of attack could make him a dominant offensive guard at the next level.
The Chiefs have an obvious hole at the left guard position and Richardson could come in and be a real asset at the position.
