In case you are wondering, veteran center Eric Wood is still on the roster of the Buffalo Bills. But as has been well-documented, his football days are over. Back in January, via a team statement (courtesy of Nick Shook of NFL.com), the longtime pivot announced the somber news.

"“I was diagnosed with a neck injury as part of my season-ending physical with the Bills. After consultation with Dr. Cappuccino and other physicians, I was informed that I was no longer cleared to play football, even with surgery or further treatment…I appreciate and thank everyone for their thoughts, concerns and prayers…”"

Wood remains on the team due to salary cap ramifications. The Bills did have a competent backup on the team in the form of Ryan Groy, who has been with the club for three seasons and made seven starts for Wood back in 2016.

Enter Russell Bodine, late of the Cincinnati Bengals and a 16-game starter in each of his four seasons in the Queen City. It’s a solid pickup for Sean McDermott’s club. A fourth-round pick in 2014 from the University of North Carolina, the 6-3, 310-pound pro inked a two-year deal with Buffalo.

While Bodine solidifies the pivot, there’s a new issue due to the sudden retirement of left guard Richie Incognitio. Could we see Groy at guard? With Wood and Incognito gone and left tackle Cordy Glenn dealt to the Cincinnati Bengals this offseason, the Bills’ offensive line will be very different.
