Chicago Bears: 5 Outside linebackers to target in 2018 NFL Draft
We previously went over inside linebacker targets for the Chicago Bears. With a need at outside linebacker as well, here are five targets who could help.
The time gets closer. The 2018 NFL Draft is almost upon us. In about two weeks teams like the Chicago Bears will change the lives of many draft prospects in the hope of those prospects changing their fortunes.
The Bears made a big splash in free agency, changing the offense and bringing it to the 21st century. While it’s still too early to say how good general manager Ryan Pace’s moves were, there is a renewed excitement in Chicago.
The Bears probably focus on defense in this draft with a sprinkling of an offensive lineman or running back. The defense was top-ten in 2017 and can get better with this draft class.
I previously wrote about the Bears’ need at inside linebacker. In addition, they have a need at outside linebacker as well. They need someone on the outside to complement Leonard Floyd. The Bears signed Aaron Lynch, but he’s struggled a bit since defensive coordinator Vic Fangio left the San Francisco 49ers after the 2014 season. The Bears hope that a reunion with Fangio gets Lynch back on track. At any rate, they can pick up a prospect and give the position some added depth. You cannot just use hope to depend on. If you can pick up someone up and solidify the position you do it.
Without further ado, here are five outside linebackers the Chicago Bears should target in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Note: I know a lot of readers will blast me for not writing about Marcus Davenport. Yes, he is a great prospect, but I view him more as a defensive end. He’s already at 260 and his body certainly handles more easily. He’ll be a Pro Bowl defensive end.
