Chicago Bears: 5 Outside linebackers to target in 2018 NFL Draft
Harold Landry, Boston College: 6-3, 252 pounds
Harold Landry has the ability to get into the backfield well. He has an array of moves to avoid blockers. He has a good bend to slip past them and has the quickness to blow past them. Landry is a long strider so he eats up a lot of yards quickly. Additionally, he explodes off the snap and doesn’t make any false steps in jumping the snap count.
Landry had a breakout junior season in which he recorded 50 tackles (22 for loss), 16.5 sacks, and an interception. His senior season was disappointing, however. He recorded 38 tackles (8.5 for loss) and 5 sacks.
While run defense is not his forte, having a beefy, good line in front of him helps. The Bears have Akiem Hicks and Eddie Goldman in two spots and have Jonathan Bullard and Roy Robertson-Harris fighting for the other spot. Those guys free Landry up to get to the quarterback. Ultimately, getting to the quarterback is a priority. Some of the best signal callers reside in the NFC North and if the defense cannot neutralize them it’ll be a long season.

Even though Landry had a disappointing season, some consider his ankle injury a factor and expect him to be just fine in the NFL. Landry confirmed that himself with an excellent NFL Combine performance. We should expect the 2016 Landry going forward and see him perform well at the higher level.
