There’s no doubt about this draft. The New York Jets need to come away with a quarterback with their No. 3 overall pick for it to be deemed a successful one.

The build through the NFL Draft mantra for the New York Jets has reached full steam. They traded with the Indianapolis Colts to move up three spots, presumably to make sure they land one of the three guys they want.

That’s a smart move, if they believe they can land a franchise quarterback, and they are proven right by their move. The latter is to be determined by time only, though.

Outside of the quarterback, this draft will have a theme in the later rounds. Despite being somewhat active in free agency, the Jets still have a few holes on their roster. They will have to attack this draft by selecting players that can fill multiple holes.

They’re going to have to hit a few home runs, smack a double or two, and find a couple of role players. The Jets are continuing to build a firm foundation with which they could be capable of winning a Super Bowl.

Let’s see where this building process leads them in 2018. They began the foundation in the 2017 draft, with 2018 free agency, and now this draft.
