New York Jets: 7-Round 2018 mock draft in mid-April
Former UCLA head coach Jim Mora caused a firestorm when he said that Sam Darnold would be a better fit in Cleveland than the guy he coached, Josh Rosen. The same can be said about Greg Stroman with the Jets. His skills fit what the Jets need.
The Jets did sign Trumaine Johnson and re-signed Morris Claiborne. However, the Jets need depth at the position, because Buster Skrine commits too many penalties to be a reliable No. 3 option when teams go to 11 personnel. Stroman provides the Jets with what they need, and he also fits the mold of a prior pick in this mock draft, Dimitri Flowers, someone who can give the Jets something in multiple roles.
The Jets need a guy who can cover, and Stroman is that guy. It didn’t matter whether the guy was fast, big, or big and fast, Stroman showed he can cover his receiver. According to Pro Football Focus Elite, he allowed one reception every 30.9 times in coverage, a passer rating of 20.9, and only two touchdowns.
In 2017, Stroman set career highs in punt return yards, punt return average, and punts returned for touchdowns. So, he gives that to the Jets too.
