The Miami Dolphins appear in the market to address a need at running back, and these 2018 NFL Draft targets could be critical for them.

The Miami Dolphins once had a backfield that featured a pretty solid crop of guys with Jay Ajayi, Kenyan Drake and Damien Williams. Now, Drake is the starting back after Ajayi was traded to the Eagles during the 2017 season, and Williams has been replaced by Frank Gore. Still, it doesn’t seem like the Dolphins brass are sold on the two guys they have in the backfield.

In fact, the Dolphins were willing to ship the No. 19 pick in 2014 NFL Draft, right tackle Ja’Wuan James, to the Denver Broncos for running back C.J. Anderson. However, they wisely opted not to go through with it.

Anderson is a back who excelled in Miami head coach Adam Gase’s system during his tenure with the Broncos. In Gase’s first season, the Fins tried, but were unable to acquire Anderson. The Broncos running back rushed for over 1,000 yards, averaging more than four yards per carry, and finished the year with five total touchdowns.

But since the Dolphins weren’t able to land Anderson — who fits their scheme — it’s likely they’ll look to add a back in the 2018 NFL Draft. Here are the running back prospects that best fit what the Dolphins are looking for.
