2018 NFL Mock Draft: 6 Surprise quarterback trades cause madness
By Dan Parzych
As mentioned before, the Jets traded up with the Colts in March to go from No. 6 to No. 3 in the first round, but if they truly wanted to land someone like Darnold, that may not be enough. Even if Cleveland were to go in a different direction at No. 1, the Jets will have to keep an eye on what the Giants plan on doing at No. 2 since there’s been consideration over the possibility of using the pick on a successor to Eli Manning.
Obviously, the Jets could still land a different quarterback at No. 3 if this were to happen, but with Darnold shaping out to be the top prospect from this year’s class at his position, moving up an extra spot may be worth it for Todd Bowles and company. From his arm strength to vision down field, there are plenty of reasons why the USC product deserves to be the first quarterback selected in draft, and when seeing how long it’s been since the Jets had a legitimate franchise quarterback, Darnold could solve what’s been a major problem.
Year after year, the Jets continue to hold off on addressing their issue at quarterback, and it only continues to hold them back from taking that necessary step in the right direction on offense. The Jets already made it obvious by trading up with the Colts their desire to land a quarterback, so why not take another step by moving up again to land Darnold?
