2018 NFL Mock Draft: 6 Surprise quarterback trades cause madness
By Dan Parzych
What took place last season for the Giants was completely unexpected since this was a team that many believed would make a serious run at the Super Bowl in the NFC, only to end up winning just three games all year. Clearly, New York had numerous areas in need of improvement on both sides of the football, and as tempting as it may be to use their first rounder on a successor to Manning, focusing on the defense isn’t the worst idea either.
Thanks to a division loaded with high-powered offenses, the only chance the Giants are going to have at competing for the NFC East title is if they load up on the defensive side of the football. When looking at his massive size and athleticism, Bradley Chubb out of NC State could be the perfect fit for New York this early in the first round when looking at the impact he seems capable of making right away as a rookie.
Seeing Chubb record 20 sacks during his final two seasons with the Wolfpack shows is just one of many examples that show the defensive end is ready for the next step at the NFL level. If defense is the direction the Giants end up going, Chubb almost seems like a lock for the first defender selected in this year’s draft.
