2018 NFL Mock Draft: 6 Surprise quarterback trades cause madness
By Dan Parzych
Give the Chicago Bears credit for making the necessary moves this offseason to build a better offense around Mitch Trubisky after trading up in the first round a year ago to land the former North Carolina quarterback. As bad as Trubisky looked at times in 2017 as a rookie, the Bears quarterback received some benefit of the doubt when looking at the lack of weapons he had to work with, other than Jordan Howard.
From signing one of the biggest receivers free agency had to offer in Allen Robinson to an effective pass-catching tight end on the rise in Trey Burton, Trubisky’s sophomore campaign is going to be a lot smoother than his rookie season. But if Chicago truly wants to live up to the hype of being a potential sleeper team in the NFC, the defense will need to come through on their end as well.
There were times in which the Bears’ defense actually displayed some impressive performances during the 2017 season, but adding another cornerback like Denzel Ward could help take this unit to a new level. Just like his former teammate Marshon Lattimore last year, Ward hopes to become the next great Ohio State cornerback to find success in the NFL, and joining a team like Chicago could result in him starting right away as a rookie.
