Dallas Cowboys: 7-Round 2018 mock draft after Dez Bryant release
The Dallas Cowboys have cut Dez Bryant, and will look to take one a fresher look with a strong 2018 NFL Draft class. A new 7-round mock draft for the Boys.
Dez Bryant is no longer with the Dallas Cowboys. That might be a phrase that many fans were never going to be willing to accept, but it’s the reality of the situation at hand. The wide receiver was released on Friday after a meeting with Jerry Jones in Dallas. Now, the Cowboys are left to move forward and take on a new look on offense, which could and should begin with the 2018 NFL Draft.
Wide receiver was always in play for the Cowboys in the first round of the draft. Picking at No. 19 on Day 1, there are obvious needs that Dallas needs to fill on both sides of the ball. In that draft position, however, it’s not always about need and the best-player-available mentality plays a factor.
That is to say, if a defensive tackle is the best player that could work for the Cowboys on the board when they make their selection, that’s who they should nab. The same goes for linebacker, (maybe) tight end, safety and yes, receiver.
However, Dallas has made a living in recent years out of finding great value throughout the entirety of the NFL Draft. They have been able to land guys like Anthony Brown and Xavier Woods on Day 3 to bolster the secondary. Also in the secondary are Chidobe Awuzie and Jourdan Lewis, who were picked in Rounds 2 and 3, respectively, last year.
Thus, this is all about getting fresher and a new look around a team that is now clearly Dak Prescott’s on both sides of the ball. So, let’s take a look at the haul they get in the 2018 NFL Draft with this seven-round mock draft.
