Many people are saying the Giants “have to” take their quarterback of the future here. The opinion is that the Giants need to develop a guy in the manner they did with Eli Manning, and he must be a first round pick.

One question remains. Do John Mara’s well-publicized comments about “admiring” the development of Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay early in his career mean they’re willing to take a first round pick and develop him behind Manning like the Packers did, like most people assume? Actually, people should be reading that as the Giants are willing to take a developmental quarterback later, because, remember, Rodgers sat for three seasons before becoming the starter.

The Giants are switching to a 3-4 defense — hence why they were willing to part with Jason Pierre-Paul. That means they need an edge rusher, and Bradley Chubb is the best at that position in this draft.

He has a great combination of size, speed, and athleticism perfect for the edge. He can get to the quarterback or set the edge and funnel the run to the inside. Chubb can also chase down runners and become a nuisance against the run. He’s exactly what the Giants need in their new 3-4 front.
