So, the Giants must take a quarterback in the first round, because this class is so great at the top, right? Not necessarily. They can draft a work-in-progress type like Falk to sit behind Eli Manning for the remainder of Manning’s contract.

There are a few things to like about Falk’s game. First, he’s accurate. He was completed over 65 percent of his passes in his final three seasons. Falk can get the ball out quickly, read the whole field, and has a quality NFL arm.

He can manipulate the secondary to open things on the outside. Falk will also hit his receivers to allow for run after the catch. His size allows him to see over the front when it’s clogged. The only major issue with Falk is the mobility. His limited mobility led to 125 sacks, and that may negatively affect him both physically and mentally at the next level.

Falk is more than capable of being a good starter for the Giants, as long as they can be as patient as the Packers were with Aaron Rodgers. The draft isn’t always about getting a guy “just because you will likely not draft that high again” as some have said. Super Bowls aren’t won by the great guy in the first round, but by the right guy in the right round — just ask Tom Brady, Russell Wilson and Drew Brees.
