Round 3: Mark Andrews, TE, Oklahoma

Mark Andrews is the obvious choice in the third round. Jacksonville might have to move up for him. His potential is worth the risk and the move to get him. Andrews stands 6-5, weighing 254 pounds. At Oklahoma, he caught 112 passes for 1,765 yards with 22 touchdowns. Andrews won the John Mackey Award for being the best tight end in 2017.

An overview of Andrews on NFL.com by Zierlein says:

"Andrews is a former wideout who plays with a receiver’s mentality in a tight end’s body. He is a pass-catcher with a deft feel for route adjustments and operating in space against zone coverage. Andrews is a big, reliable target who doesn’t need a spacious catch window to haul it in. …"

Although Jacksonville signed two free agent tight ends, Andrews can line up as a slot receiver. He would create mismatches in coverages due to his athleticism and size. He will probably draw linebacker and safety coverage in man schemes.

Jacksonville could get creative in goal line situations with a four tight end formation. The play action passing game would be very effective. Perhaps Andrews will develop into a Rob Gronkowski type of pass threat.
