Jacksonville Jaguars: 7-Round 2018 mock draft eight days away
By Larry Brake
Round 6: Antonio Callaway, WR, Florida
Antonio Callaway is taken here to add depth to the receiving corps. Callaway could be characterized by being a “high risk, high reward” type of player. The risk that Jacksonville will take involves the off the field issues at Florida. That is why he is available in the sixth round.
Rewards comes with the explosiveness that Callaway brings to the offense. At the Combine, he ran a 4.41-second 40 yard dash. Callaway recorded the third fastest time. He stands 5-11, weighing 197 pounds.
At Florida, 2015-16, Callaway caught 89 passes for 1,399 yards with seven touchdowns. He average an outstanding 15.7 yards per reception. He moves the chains with each reception.
Lance Zierlein of NFL.com gives an overview of Callaway’s potential:
"Make no mistake about it, … his character concerns are at a point where they could derail any opportunity for a career if he doesn’t mature quickly. His talent and explosiveness alone give him a good shot at coming off the board on day two and if he keeps it together, he has a chance to become one of the best receivers in this draft."
The leadership inside the Jaguars locker room is the reason for taking Callaway. There are guys ready and willing to mentor him into becoming an outstanding player.
