The 2018 NFL Draft is just one week away and for the Dallas Cowboys there is a chance they bypass defense and draft offense in the first round.

What will the Dallas Cowboys choose to do in the first round and the ensuing six rounds of the 2018 NFL Draft next Thursday? With wide receiver Dez Bryant no longer on the roster, the current buzz for the Cowboys is they will be looking to draft a wide receiver in the first round. Even with the glaring need for a No. 1 wide receiver, there are needs to be filled on defense, too.

Maybe the Cowboys won’t draft for their top need in the first round and potentially select the “best player available” when the 19th overall selection rolls around on Thursday. The interesting part of this draft isn’t just how the Cowboys begin it on Thursday, but the road they will travel on Friday and Saturday when they really build on to the roster in spots that could not only add depth, but find a potential starter or two on the defensive side.

There are more than a few ways the Cowboys could go with this draft. Remember, the last time they were in desperate need of a true No. 1 wide receiver back in 2010, that is the season they drafted Bryant with the 24th overall pick. Could that be the way they look to draft again all these years later, to find the replacement of Bryant? There is also the need to draft a linebacker or two, and there are never enough defensive linemen and defensive backs this team can use.

The 2018 NFL Draft will be very interesting and even more important for them to draft the correct players, especially with the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles already improving upon their roster, and the New York Giants won’t be down forever either.

Cowboys fans should now sit back and enjoy the upcoming week of speculation and draft predictions, and with this upcoming mock draft for the Cowboys, this is a chance to see which players could end up being selected to the Cowboys roster.
