For the Jets, the defensive interior isn’t about getting sacks, but it’s about setting up the edge rushers for the pressure and stopping the run. Brown played defensive end at Virginia, but at his size, strength, and athletic ability, he’d be better suited for a move inside. As ESPN’s Rich Cimini told us, Leonard Williams may see a lot of double-teams in 2018, and that should give Brown a few one-on-one opportunities.

Brown was a beast in his final two seasons at Virginia. He recorded 84 tackles, seven tackles for loss on runs, and 9.5 sacks. According to Pro Football Focus Elite, Brown had a recorded a quarterback pressure on 6.2 percent of his pass rush snaps. The NFL average for defensive tackles was 5.5 percent in 2017. His run stop percentage of 5.9 was below the NFL average of 7.2, but that’s just an area he’ll need to work on.

Brown has the strength to matchup with guards and the athleticism to beat them, especially if he’s given a few one-on-one opportunities. The combination of Brown and Williams could pose a matchup nightmare, especially given the run stopping ability across the line. If the edge rushers can step up their game, this defensive front seven will become a feared one.
