2018 NFL Mock Draft: Two complete rounds including massive trades
If the board fall right, the Miami Dolphins could certainly be in the quarterback market in the first round of the upcoming draft. In this specific scenario where Josh Rosen fell a bit, I am sure that the Dolphins would make some calls in order to trade up and snag the UCLA player. However, this actually worked out really well for Miami.
The Dolphins really struggled at the linebacker position last season, lacking speed and overall playmaking ability across the corps. In today’s NFL, lacking speed on the defensive side of the ball is a death sentence. Getting Raekwon McMillan back from injury will help, but finding more impact players at the linebacker position should be a priority for Miami.
With the 11th overall pick in this 2018 NFL mock draft, the Dolphins select Georgia linebacker Roquan Smith.
Smith is a freak athlete at the linebacker position, showing fantastic natural speed and playmaking ability. He is a fierce run defender who can mix it up on the inside and legitimately defend from sideline-to-sideline. Smith is also a tremendous man-to-man defender who can matchup against both speed and size. On top of that, he is a true weapon in the blitz game.
When it comes down to it, Smith is a premier defensive player in this draft class. He not only fills an obvious need for the Miami Dolphins, but he is a tremendous value selection at number 11.
