player. 45. . OG. Notre Dame. Quenton Nelson. 5

The Denver Broncos could easily just sit back here and grab their franchise quarterback with the fifth overall pick. However, signing Case Keenum allows Denver the opportunity to pass on a first-round quarterback if they do not believe that the right guy is available. Josh Rosen is certainly an option here, but I think solidifying the offensive line by taking Quenton Nelson makes more sense.

Nelson is arguably the most talented and safest prospect in this entire draft class. He is an incredible offensive guard who will immediately come in and be one of the best at his position in the entire NFL.

The Notre Dame product is a big and powerful player who consistently dominates at the point of impact. He explodes out of his stance on the snap and drives the opposing defender back on impact. Nelson is an elite run blocker who would immediately help open holes for the Broncos’ backs.

While strength and power are the most impressive part of Nelson’s game, he also moves extremely well for an offensive lineman. Nelson is quick and athletic, showing impressive mirror skills in pass protection and the ability to reach the second level with ease as a run blocker.

Simply put, Quenton Nelson is an incredible offensive line prospect who would immediately be an impact player for the Denver Broncos. Snagging him with the fifth pick in this 2018 NFL mock draft is the right move to make.
