We take a look at a Chicago Bears’ 7-round mock draft before the real thing goes down this week.

The time is almost upon us. The 2018 NFL Draft happens this week. After months of mocks, rumors, and endless possibilities we finally find out the choices the Chicago Bears make to add to their roster.

The Bears had what many felt was a strong offseason through free agency. General manager Ryan Pace retooled the offense around quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, adding pass-catching weapons. He also tweaked the offensive line, but some feel more tooling is needed. Is that where Pace goes in the first round, or will he find someone later? There are also questions at linebacker, edge rusher, defensive backs, and defensive line.

It’ll be interesting to see where Pace puts his priority. He put in on offense in free agency. He may go with defense in the draft, or continue to help Trubisky (at this point Trubisky and Pace are tied to the hip).

So, this is my final Bears mock of 2018. The draft season is over. For this mock, I have some caveats. I am 99 percent sure (as are many others) that Pace and the Bears will make trades. As in previous drafts, Pace probably makes multiple trades.

As I wrote recently, the Bears need to reacquire their third-round pick. There are some talented prospects available there. These aren’t guys who you draft early, but they’ll provide you a player who helps you succeed. As we’ve seen with the New England Patriots, you can build a champion with middle-round picks.

Even though I feel the Bears will wheel and deal, I’m not mocking with trades. What trades and where they happen is difficult to determine. Besides, a mock should be a snapshot. Remember, months ago people were sure the Bears’ pick in the first round would be a wide receiver. Yes, they have a need after letting Cameron Meredith leave, but the need isn’t as dire as it was before. Also, players that other teams select might change things for the Bears.

Before we find out what the real draft reveals, let’s take a look at what they may do:
