Safety. Jeremy Reaves. 7. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 52. South Alabama Jaguars

The Chicago Bears defense is known for putting a hurt on its opponents. Historically, when you played against that defense you felt it for quite awhile. However, that hasn’t been the case in recent history. Sure, the defense is getting back to being a top-ten unit, but the hard-hitting plays that caused turnovers still haven’t returned. That could change with Jeremy Reaves.

Reaves harassed ball carriers throughout his career with the Jaguars. He was a tremendous ball hawk, recording eight interceptions, forcing three fumbles, and recovering two others. Having Reaves on the team gives Fangio a lot of options. In addition to safety, Reaves also played cornerback and nickel.

When testing, Reaves doesn’t impress. However, he is just a hard-nosed football player. He has a high football intelligence and as I mentioned, a nose for the football. He wraps up well and tries to knock the ball carrier several feet under the ground.

Reaves is a tackling machine. Over the past three seasons, he recorded 285 tackles. In addition to getting to the ball carriers past the line of scrimmage, he also has a knack for getting into the backfield, as his 28.5 tackles for loss indicate.

After spending many years trying to solidify their safety slots, the Bears have a good duo in Eddie Jackson and Adrian Amos. Reaves can come in and do a good job at spelling them, and can also help out at corner. I believe Fangio would love to have a football player like Reaves.
