After losing Chris Hubbard this offseason, the Steelers will likely be looking for more depth along the front five during the 2018 NFL Draft. Waiting until the fifth round may not be the ideal way to do so, but more pressing needs required attention in the earlier rounds.

So now, the Steelers find themselves with yet another LSU alum joining one of the NFL’s better offensive lines. Toby Weathersby may not be as exciting of a prospect as Jerald Hawkins was back in 2016, but he’s got enough tools in his toolbox to develop into a quality backup who can play a number of positions.

During his days at LSU, Weathersby actually spent his time at offensive tackle. Now going pro, he figures to take his talents to the inside, as guard seems like a better overall fit for his size and strengths. At the same time, the athleticism he possesses makes him a viable option at offensive tackle as well. It just so happens the Steelers are trying to replace a player who possessed similar versatility.

Weathersby isn’t a standout as a run or pass blocker, but is adept at both. With some refinement to his hand work and physique, I could easily see him emerging as an asset for the Pittsburgh offensive line who can play almost any position in a pinch. Now that’s what they can value.
