4. Isaac Yiadom, CB, Boston College

Richard Sherman cannot be considered a long-term fix at the age of 30 coming off an Achilles injury and the 49ers could certainly use a corner who he can help groom to eventually start across from Witherspoon. Yiadom is an excellent fit for a 49ers’ scheme that heavily relies on Cover 3, possessing great length and 6-0 and arms over 32 inches and plays in a similar fashion to Sherman.

He is aggressive in press, consistently jamming receivers and redirecting them with a sharp punch. Yiadom also has the athleticism to turn his hips and stay in close proximity in downfield coverage but is patient in his approach and doesn’t commit to his turn too early.

Capable of closing quickly in transition from off coverage and crowding receivers at the catch point, Yiadom delivered impressive on-ball production at Boston College with 22 pass deflections.

Yet Yiadom only had three interceptions and needs to do a better job of turning his head to find the ball. He also struggles to mirror quicker receivers but his is a skill set that should not require too much refinement before he can be a regular contributor on defense.

Though he is seen by many as a day-three pick, Yiadom would not be a reach for the 49ers if they took him on day two.
