New York Jets: Final 7-Round 2018 mock draft
If you could give him the position of football player, or if the position Swiss Army knife existed, that would be what Flowers would be assigned as. The problem is the position of fullback doesn’t do him justice, as he can do so much more than lead block — which is what most people think of when they see that position.
Even though he is a fullback, Pro Football Focus Elite graded him among their tight ends, and the numbers are astounding for a “fullback.” He lined up at tight end 130 times and was targeted 23 times with only one drop, and he led the nation’s tight ends in yards per route run (2.65).
He can also be a power back in both the I or like Mike Alstott alone in the backfield. He led the way for a 1000-yard running back in all four seasons, led the way for 22 100-yard games, and scored 17 touchdowns (13 receiving and four rushing) in his career in Norman.
Flowers isn’t just a fullback, he’s a multi-purpose football player, just what the Jets need to fill needed holes. With him, the Jets can run a variety of sets. That could make the Jets offense much more dangerous and less predictable, just what the doctor ordered.
