New York Jets: Final 7-Round 2018 mock draft
Buster Skrine is in a got to go situation. He commits too many penalties to warrant his talent being on the field. They need a guy who can cover without committing penalties. Greg Stroman is that guy.
It doesn’t matter the size or the speed of the wide receiver that is opposite him in coverage. At Virginia Tech, he was asked to cover them all, and he delivered. According to Pro Football Focus Elite, Stroman was one of four to allow one reception per every 30 or more coverage snaps, and his total of 30.9 coverage snaps per reception was third in the nation.
In terms of passer rating, he only allowed a passer rating of 26.8, and 12 catches all season. He will be a nightmare for whoever the Jets decide to stick him on in coverage, especially since size and speed doesn’t matter — so he can play slot or outside. He’s made a play on the ball 35 times (26 passes defended and nine interceptions) in his career.
He’s another multipurpose player for the Jets, because he can return punts too. In 2017, Stroman set career highs in return yards, average and touchdowns. Between punt returns and interceptions, he’s scored five times, which makes him a threat. He’s exactly what the Jets need.
