Washington Redskins: Final 7-Round 2018 mock draft
Round 7, Pick 213: Korey Robertson, WR, Southern Miss
Washington had its share of struggles at wide receiver a year ago after letting Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson walk. Adding Paul Richardson to Jamison Crowder and Josh Doctson, the Redskins feel this group will be much better in 2018. But what if any of those three go down with an injury? Remember, Ryan Grant departed via free agency, too.
That means the Redskins will likely look for wide receiver depth at some point in this week’s draft. With their first seventh-round selection, the Redskins take a flier on Korey Robertson of Southern Miss.
In watching Robertson’s college film, you see a little of Garcon in his game. The two are similar in size (6-0, 212 pounds) and athletic ability. Robertson plays much bigger than his size and will compete for every reception. His speed is decent, but he’s not a burner. He’s surprisingly a good deep receiver because of his ability to fight for the football in the air. Robertson doesn’t get great separation at the line of scrimmage and his route-running will need to improve. But he has potential.
Robertson is the type of player who could develop into a gem later on. The Redskins will not need him to play immediately, allowing him to develop. They’re allegedly interested in him, too.
