The Oakland Raiders dropped from the No. 10 spot in a trade with the Cardinals and ended up drafting tackle Kolton Miller at No. 15, how did they do?

The Oakland Raiders were originally slated to draft at No. 10, but then they struck a deal with the Arizona Cardinals to move back to the 15th spot. The Cards surrendered a third and fifth-round pick in the move, and Oakland still had some solid choices when they got back on the clock a few picks later.

The players available consisted of a top corner in Jaire Alexander out of Louisville, safety in Florida State’s Derwin James, linebacker in Tremaine Edmunds from Virginia Tech and defensive tackle in Tavon Byran out of Florida.

Rather than take any of them, the Raiders elected to go with UCLA offensive tackle Kolton Miller — a shocking pick to say the least.

Grade for Kolton Miller: D+

While Miller has potential starting traits, there were some options at his position that could be argued to have been better — like Connor Williams out of Texas.

Putting aside whether or not he was the best at tackle, there were much more impactful players on the board. Edmunds or Landry would have filled bigger needs and had more impact. Oakland could have found a player similar to Miller later in the draft, but not Landry or Edmunds.

One thing of note is the Raiders did turn the third-round pick they received from Arizona into a potential weapon. They were able to flip that pick for deep-threat Martavis Bryant, the receiver who wanted out of Pittsburgh.
