13. Washington Redskins: Vita Vea, DL, Washington

The Washington Redskins selected Jonathan Allen last year to help shore up things on their defensive front. While Allen wasn’t a superstar for them by any means, he showed real promise as a rookie. What’s more, the Alabama product wasn’t exactly aided by the fact that he didn’t have a lot of talent surrounding him on the defensive line. Vita Vea will bring him 347 pounds worth of assistance though.

Vea is a physical marvel that doesn’t get that billing because of his size. However, when you have a man who is 6-5 and 347 pounds running the 40-yard dash in 5.11 seconds, that deserves to drop some jaws. And he plays with that type of suddenness and also with tremendous power in his game. Vea suffered a bit last season in college as he was double-teamed quite a bit. However, he still found success and, as he heads to the NFL and faces fewer doubles, he should be a force at the nose in Washington.

14. Green Bay Packers: Harold Landry, EDGE, Boston College

There has been recent chatter about the Green Bay Packers looking to trade up for the 14th overall pick and the assumption from that is they are looking to beef up a defense that sorely needs such addressing. While many people have them looking at Denzel Ward to add to a secondary that still needs more help even after adding two big pieces last draft, the Broncos trading back takes them out of that.

Harold Landry is quite the consolation price, however. This Packers team simply needs to get far more out of their pass rush than they have been able to in recent years. What’s more, Clay Matthews is 32 years old and has shown signs of decline of late. As such, getting a shot-out-of-a-cannon type edge rusher like Landry who has exceptional dip and speed off the line is a huge get for Green Bay that should help the defense progress.
