Nos. 6-10

6. Denzel Ward – Ohio State
7. Derwin James – Florida State
8. Leighton Vander Esch – Boise State
9. Quenton Nelson – Notre Dame
10. Mike McGlinchey – Penn State

Denzel Ward may be little undersized for the 49ers’ defensive scheme at corner but has the requisite arm length and, along with Richard Sherman and Ahkello Witherspoon, would give them excellent depth at the position, while Derwin James would be able to slot right in as an extremely athletic safety-linebacker hybrid.

Leighton Vander Esch has been linked with the Niners and would appear to be Plan C at linebacker if they do not get Smith or Edmunds.

Kyle Shanahan does not value guard as much as center in his offense, but the 49ers would have a hard time passing on a prospect as flawless as Quenton Nelson were he to fall to them, while tackle Mike McGlinchey has been mocked to San Francisco by a number of observers late in the process.
