Marcell Harris, S, Florida (184th overall)

Harris’ 2017 season was lost to an Achilles injury but he could prove a valuable backup for the 49ers. A well-built heavy hitter, Harris is seen as a player who will be limited to the box safety role at the next level.

But the 49ers’ defense is one in which the box safety role is important and San Francisco, having seen Jaquiski Tartt restricted to nine games last year because of a broken arm, could use insurace at the position. With 18 special teams tackles in his career, Harris brings value in the third facet of the game, giving him a decent shot at making the roster even in a now very crowded secondary.

Grade: C

Jullian Taylor, DL, Temple (223rd Overall)

The 49ers love versatility, and Taylor has that in spades. He is athletically blessed at 6-5 and 280 pounds, with his quickness enabling him to create disruption on the interior and off the edge.

Stout enough to hold up at the point of attack inside, Taylor is capable of playing at every position on the defensive line. The concern, though, will be durability, with knee injuries ravaging his collegiate career. But in his one full season in 2017 Taylor registered 11 tackles for loss and his athletic ability offers him a chance of developing into a rotational player with upside.

Grade: B
