The ‘Sam Darnold shouldn’t start Week 1’ crowd has already chimed in and done so loudly for the New York Jets, and their reasoning is downright ridiculous.

The New York Jets finally have their franchise quarterback. So, let the arguments begin as to when he should make his debut for the Jets. Some say later in the season, and some say sit for a year. Why not start Week 1?

There have been plenty of ideas thrown in to make it seem like it’s a bad idea. Most of them have been cliché and one size fits all ideas. The problem is everyone isn’t the same, and you can’t treat every situation and person the same.

As Ralph Vacchiano of SNY poignantly put it:

"There are many ways, obviously, for the Jets to deal with a young, franchise quarterback like Sam Darnold. They all want to play from the start, of course. Meanwhile, their coaches always want them to sit and learn, if there’s time. It has worked both ways, and it has failed both ways, and success isn’t guaranteed no matter the plan."

Whether or not they should or shouldn’t start him isn’t the question that we’ll tackle here (pun intended). Let’s look at some of the ridiculous arguments against him doing so.
