5. Michael Gallup, WR (Colorado State)

Let’s not overlook the fact that the Dallas Cowboys lost more than one wide receiver this offseason. The decision to part ways with three-time Pro Bowler Dez Bryant after eight seasons was pretty controversial. On the other hand, it made sense when you look at the disappointing numbers the past three years.

Did injuries or just a lack of consistent play, most notably this past year, the fact is that the team’s first round pick in 2010 just wasn’t living up to his play from 2012-14. Over those 48 regular-season games, he hauled in 273 passes for 3,935 and 41 touchdowns. Over the past three seasons, there were a total of 10 games missed (from 2015-16) and in those 38 contests, there were just 150 grabs for 2,035 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Along with Bryant, the team watched speedy Brice Butler move onto the Arizona Cardinals. And 2017 rookie Ryan Switzer was recently dealt to the Oakland Raiders. Of course, the latter was moved not long after Dallas used a third-round draft choice on Colorado State wideout Michael Gallup. Over the past two seasons, the 2017 All-America performer combined for 176 receptions, good for 2,690 yards and 21 scores. He will be expected to contribute sooner than later.
